I just bought a 2006 whose computer is showing me around 39 mpg on my second tank of gas. My 2004 never got below 42 mpg and was usually around 48 MPG. What gives?? Did they change the computer algorithm in the 2006? Do I have a lemon?? Brooke

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Manksgloob @ Jun 15 2006, 09:22 PM) </div> I agree. My first tank was around 43, second tank around 48, third tank around 49 in two months time, with no change in my driving habits - mostly short trips, hardly ever on an interstate, etc, pretty similar termperature ranges on both morning and evening commutes without needing to run a/c, heat or defroster much - and none of the 'tricks' to get higher MPG like changing my tire pressure or adding a stiffening plate. SLIGHT improvement due to the 'visual cue' of the moment to moment MPG - I've become more aware of anticipating stop light timing, etc. But I'm assuming the improvement has mostly been due to 'breaking it in'.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Jeannie @ Jun 15 2006, 09:17 PM) </div> I just finished my first tank of gas. Mostly freeway driving (road trip to Napa). MPG was 46 on the display. But the mileage was 420, for 7 gallons of gas. Does this make any sense to anyone? The gas gauge does have all the bars lit up after the fillup.
Even if all your pips are lighted, methinks there's room for another 1-1.75 gal. in there. Did you try "topping it off", or quit pumping when the pump first shut off? Too big a discrepancy between 46 display and 60 calculated.
