Last night as I got out of the car the key warning started beeping at me even though the key was in my pocket. I thought this was odd but closed the door and put my ear to the window. The warning had stopped and so I locked the car and went on my merry way. Today the car won't start and the key warning comes on the moment I open the door. Everything on the dash lights up, the key warning goes off and that's really the end of it. I have tried both key fobs separately. I have tried putting both keys into the key slot. Nada. I'm hoping I can find some help here before I start looking to my mechanic. Thanks in advance
Is your 12v battery still the original? The symptoms indicate a dying or dead 12v battery. If it's the original, it definitely needs to be replaced.
