get the 2010 if you have the $ or talk them down on the 07 price The 17K for a used 07 w/60K miles sounds a bit on the high side. Not that I've been looking at used Prius prices, but unless it's really well equipped [with nav], I'd try to talk them down at least $1K or $2K. If you have the money, I'd go w/the 2010. Yep, the basic warranty and 5 year/60K powertrain are gone now. But, I believe Maine is a CARB state so you should have the 10 year/150K mile warranty on the HV battery and a few more years (5?) beyond that on many of the hybrid components. If you buy the 2010, you'll have all the warranties starting from 0. From the 2 brief test drives I've had, the 2010 definitely feels more solid and has a lot of great features like more power, slightly better mileage, touch tracer controls, exhaust gas heat recovery, the 4 modes (EV, power, eco and normal) and no belts. The hybrid indicator displays being moved further up along w/the many options that didn't exist on the 2nd gen like solar moonroof, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, intelligent park assist, radar adaptive cruise control, Bluetooth A2DP streaming music, etc. But, if you pick a higher models/packages, the car starts becoming real expensive. Not me.
+1k For a tall person, even doing an insanely difficult mod of adding height adjuster may be for nought since there is no telescopic steering wheel in the 'Gen II'.
My experience: Oct 2005, $17,300 - 49,700 miles, 2003 Prius, my current commuting car May 2009, $24,250 - 7 miles, 2010 Prius, my wife's car Get the cheaper Prius. In a few years, you'll be ready for a new one and they should be awesome. Bob Wilson
2010. Prius is like a pop culture. If you want a Prius for its low fuel consumption reason alone, may be you should get the Honda Fit instead (for less money too). Comparing Prius 2010 to 2007 is like comparing iPhone 3G to 3GS. If you want a high tech toy, go get the highest tech toy - Prius 2010 it is.
Fit driver's seating not comparable to a 2010 Prius. I wouldn't recommend anyone over 6ft. tall / long legs to try the Fit. 2010 Prius is good for someone well over 6ft. tall with long legs.
I'm curious, if you already own a 2005 Prius then why would you trade it in for the 2007? The seem like the same car. If you are looking for a second car, I suggest you drive both and make a decision. Of course, it you are anything like me, once you get into the new car, you'll buy it. Good Luck
Wow. I missed that. Perhaps the OP didn't have that in his user info when he posted originally or maybe he's confused w/the info he's posted. It doesn't make much sense that he'd have an 05 and say "So I've been looking at the 2006-08 Prius but I had never actually been inside one yet so I stopped by the dealership yesterday to take a '07 out for a spin" considering the 04 to 09 all belong to the same generation and have no major changes.
