I dont think its neither of those. A - the new rims have black valve stem on it and the old rims too. The shop that installed new tire on the new rims told me they dont have sensor on them and just charged me regular valve stem for the new rims B - if post 9 suggested that all the sensor is in one pressurized tube wont all 4 tpms sensor will show the same psi? One of the tpms sensor showed 31psi and 3 sensor showed 33 on the picture. C - I thought the previous owner put a black tape over the tpms light too, but when I double tap the start button to check all the lights is function it showed the tpms light icon on the dash.
I'll search the car tomorrow to see if theres any tube or bottle looking thing. Can I drive the car and heat up the tires and check with techstream again? If techstream still show 31 or 33psi for the sensor thats mean like post #9 say theres a pressurized bottle with sensor in it. but if techstream say more than 33+ psi thats mean the tpms is inside the tire. isn't that more accurate way of finding if theres a pressurized bottle or not and if the sensor is in the tire?
A tire store with an Autel tpms tool can activate sensors if they are in the tire. The tool will directly read pressure and sensor id. Driving the car for 15 minutes with sensors in the tires will dramatically increase tire temperatures and usually will increase tire pressures by 1 or 2 psi.
they say theres no sensor in the old rims, because I told them to transfer the tpms sensor from the old rim to the new rim but when they took the tire off on the old rim theres no sensor. I'll drive around tomorrow and check if the psi go up or not
Simply adding sensors to your new wheels and using Techstream to write the new ids will work as well. Temperatures will go up a lot.
ya I can do that too, just buy new sensor and put it in the new rims and reprogram it. but Im just curious and want to find out why the tpms light not on if theres no sensor on the rims. lol
