The ECO mode doesn't change anything about where the hot coolant physically comes from. It just slightly lowers a software limit on how hard the system will blow the heat at you. (It also rules out the use of the supplemental electric heat before the engine warms up—at least in gen 3. As far as I know, gen 4 also has the electric heat and this is probably the same.)

I'd recommand you check your muffler for coolant like Gasket Masters showed in their video.
All you have to do is giggle the muffler and if there is coolant still in there you should hear it sloshing around in there.
There are others on this forum that think the muffler gets hot enough to boil that coolant out of the muffler.

But to me, that just sound like some mechanic double talk to a customers question about what to do with any possible coolant in the muffler.

    It's a simple check.

Does anyone know if the "new" part specified in the TSB (17410-37D40) actually fixes the issue? I ordered one during the 25% toyota parts promo a couple weeks ago, I got it for $6XX, but don't have it yet. I expect Toyota to put this on for me for free, so that will be an interesting conversation. :sneaky:

However, I can't seem to find a lot of info on what the actual "fix" is. Can anyone point me to a thread I may have missed on it?

I've an '18 with 41k and worry about this leak - I'm taking a picture of coolant level each week to compare level falling, and bought a scangauge to monitor water temp. Unfortunately, Scangauge cuts out everytime ICE goes off, so Scangauge and Prius don't work great together.

Might be gen 4 is problematic with Scangauge, not sure. I was using a SG II with gen 3, and one of the settings was expressly for hybrids having engine shut off. Check the SG documentation for that.

    Hello sir,

It is a long shot, but since I live in Europe, the Netherlands, and bought a secondhand Prius 2018 with low miles, I thought maybe I could ask you how you managed to get the part replaced under warranty, since I read that some folks in Netherlands weren't so lucky. If you would please be so kind to share your experience. Thank you
