Wasn't A-Rod the player who purposely spit in an Umpires face a few years ago???? Anybody remember that incident? Am I thinking off the right guy?
Arod may not care at this point. Money is not an object he has enough to last a lifetime and set his children up nicely. It is just how he wants to be remembered and if he wants to be the best at his sport. Ego is a powerful motivator.
Funny how we remember different things. My only recollection of a-rod is that he has a beautiful wife. For now, anyway
Arod and steroids. To me he does not look like he is tweaking. Sammy Sosa now that guy looked like a balloon of drug infused growth muscle when him and Arod were going after the most homers in a season.
The next five or so years is going to be hell for Yankee fans with all their very-highly paid aging players. An Aging A-Rod Problem - WSJ.com
ARod is 36 years young. He needs to heal from his injuries and get healthy before he returns, and get front office clearance I think ARod has a few good seasons ahead of him. He is the only active player in sight of the all time HR title. He has 647 Homers and will surpass Willie Mays soon. The real question is can ARod find the Mojo to pass up Bonds. He may in 2-3 seasons. If Arod gets healthy and gets the support of the Yankees and fans he will. A big part of this is all within ARod's head. He has to want it. He also needs to get beyond the Performance enhancement drugs allegations. He needs fan support. I get the impression that the Yankees are hoping to keep the 100 million $ they are on the hook for through a mixture of injury and PED contract exclusions. The management has loudly sounded a vote of no confidence. This story actually makes me wonder how common it is for a team to offer a massive contract that is heavily weighted towards the end, when few players can fulfill the required provisions.
Yankees Cashman has no idea how much A-Rod is worth when he gets healthy and closes in on the record the fans will come out of the wood work to watch history. Perhaps they don't think it will be accomplished. Sage you do have a point though. Perhaps the front office watched Money Ball with Brad Pitt? I'm sure it all comes down to the all mighty dollar. My old boss used to say, it's not personal just Business when he put together his list of potential cuts. Who knows maybe A-Rod will break the record elsewhere. Maybe he will fade into history a footnote in the Home Run stats...

Most of us who actually live in NY and have to hear about his antics every single day non-stop on the radio/TV and papers just wish he would retire already! We've had enough of A-Roid!
I just can't see any of that- he's an old 36- with the roids/HGH/etc.. he's taken- he's never going to get major league healthy again. He's too fragile and now he's washed up as a ball player.
I'm hoping that this case goes to court and A-rod's contract with the Yankees is invalidated due to misrepresentation by A-rod; specifically, that his performance is fraudulent since it was the result of PEDs. That should put a damper on the race to the top through PEDs.
A-Rod's legacy is tarnished to say the least, to tie this into It's time to consider reinstating Pete Rose as a candidate to the MLB Hall of Fame | PriusChat This should definitely hurt his chances to get into the HOF
I'm not joining the Mob. Time will tell how history reflects on ARod. Perhaps ARod should call Dave Winfield and seek his advice.
