Let’s do some math. Your 180k salvage/branded title car in working conditions is about $2,800. (With a clean title $3,800 for a similar car but not yours). So spending $2,700 repair for a $2800 car is definitely not a good financial decision.

Actually, If you sell immediately the OEM catalytic converter in CA for $1000 and the 2019 OEM battery for a $1000 you can donate the rest of the car and along with your $2700 that you would spend on the repair you now have $4,700 for a similar Prius or Corolla, or whatever reliable economical car you like.

Yeah and as long as you don't buy a generation two you won't have that problem again the break actuator Corollas don't have this problem their brake actuator sits on the fender wall fender well right there for all to see You can take it out in 18 minutes and rebuilt remanufactured units or $149 all day long from A1 cardone and the like so that problem has pretty much been destroyed. So in a later model car it'll be the whole engine that goes bad or thing things like that real planned obsolescence where they're forcing you to get a new car payment or make other decisions much faster than used to be That's why I have bowed out and stayed away from any kind of new vehicles I generally am going to try to stay below 2010 for me personally The volts that I bought were an outlier and a semi-mistake they were given to me when something like that is given to me I'll try to run it and see what the pitfalls are so far the volt shockingly enough has shown me no pitfalls at least none like the generation 3 Toyota Prius did that's for sure so it's saddens me to say Chevrolet is doing some good work with some of their vehicles like the bolt and the volt seemingly Toyota has gone the way of Chevrolet in the '80s with the citation and things like that but they've enjoyed a good run for many years so I guess it's time. Time for me to pull back from that nonsense I don't want to be in the red because of some company like Toyota screw that.
