The influenza virus has specialized hooks for the respiratory and intestinal linings so while an eye can be a stratum it is not the preferred surface.

Most people can't even cover there mouth when they cough in this country.....lets face it...America needs a chair across its face. We have our heads up our nice person in many many areas where most of the world has moved the hell on. As in:

Gay rights oh you should see the hand wringing going on down here where HORRORS...gay people would like to get married!!!! The very nerve!!!

And Florida god bless them voted down medical marijuana...were not even talking about legalizing it were not even ready for medical marijuana which boy oh boy should sure take alot of paperwork to get.

I do agree with the sentiment though -- the US has not progressed much in hygiene past Victorian England: perfume for what ails ya, or smells bad.

 

I just want to go on record that even though I live in Jawja, I DO wash my hands.

 

That and everyone and his brother refuses to take the flu shot because it made them sick. Utter nonsense.

The hospital I work at has PSA posters in every public bathroom that purport to teach people hand washing hygiene. I am always amused by the instruction to use a clean paper towel to turn off the running water. I bet few people bother to consider the why*, let alone change their behavior.

*Arabs figured this out a long time ago. One hand for eating, the other to wipe one's arse.

 

Yeah...don't know if you watch the news, but not quite the paragon of civilizational advancement.

 

I don't touch the door handler either. Paper towel. You would not believe the dudes that don't watch there hands after a you know what.
