    $40/mo or $40 flat?

Seems like a lot of hassle for a tank of gas, but if you get that every month it might make more sense...

they have those offers here in CO. There's no hassle, really. The device just lets the utility cycle the AC every so often so shave a little demand.

I think I get a credit of $8/month during the summer months. Ironically, I think I've always gotten it in the 5 yrs at my house, despite it not being hooked up anymore.

Had it at my condo, and had all kinds of issues keeping the condo cool. It kept cycling the unit off, so the HVAC guy just bypassed it and left it hooked up.

I would allow it if I kept my house cooler than the 77 I usually set it at, but any higher temp and it's a little unbearable and I wouldn't want to come home to a house at 80 degrees.

    Wick1ert,
Is your locale humid ? Our house maxes out at about 85F because we do not use AC, but we have fans and live in a low humidity climate so I find it tolerable though not comfortable.

We don't even have an AC. Evap cooler is the way to go, IMO, in CO. WAAAAY cheaper than AC in ever respect. Totally useless in Delaware, however.

Evap coolers only work in dry climes,, only make things worse in humid climates.

Just $40 bucks off on electricity bill- one time only credit. Just gives electric utility chance to throttle back voltage in a heavy demand e.g. 100F day scenario.
