My understanding is that there is a continuum of insulin production capacity between youthful normal and Type-1 diabetes. As people age, their insulin production capacity goes down. At some point along that continuum, symptoms develop and there is a diagnosis of diabetes. Type-2 diabetes is the midrange between normal and Type-1 diabetes. Normal people die before they develop diabetes, but they are still on the same downslope.

Type-1 and Type-2 are quite different to each other and Type-2 is not "in the middle" between Type-1 and "normal". Type-2 is caused by too much insulin, hyperinsulemia. They have similar complications but the pathway to each disease is quite different.

How is the fat in modern meat: 1.) different to the fat in "old timey" meat and 2.) How is it implicated in diabetes? I haven't seen anything that implicates fat as a cause of hyperinsulemia or as something that substantially boosts insulin levels.
