I've wondered this as well as I tow and also do amazon flex. I also have oversized AT tires and a worn out HVB (new is ordered) that make the regen less effective. Turns out the Gen3 is supposed to have cerammic pads but I put organic on either the front or rear.

I bought it with 163k and it now had 196k. About 6 years of ownership. After those 33k miles, the brakes still have a fair amount of meat. Only this year did I start towing a fair amount. Recently I started up flex and noticed my rotors are slightly warped now. Maybe 1/4 of my driving is highway.

I forgot to mention Scotty Kilmer. He loves Akebono stuff. He has also talked in the past about how drilled and slotted doesn't matter because back in the day it was used to remove gases that the pads produced iirc.

You shouldn't have much trouble with aftermarket rotors. Installing and bedding them in properly is the most important thing probably.
