Anyone try to illuminate around the charge port door while shut for looks?

    California Vehicle Code section 25950, subdivision (a), in part provides: “The emitted light from all lamps and the reflected light from all reflectors, visible from in front of a vehicle, shall be white or yellow, except as follows…”

    California Vehicle Code section 25258, subdivision (b), in part provides: “An authorized emergency vehicle used by a peace officer…in the performance of the peace officer's duties, may, in addition, display a steady or flashing blue warning light visible from the front, sides, or rear of the vehicle.”

    YMMV in other states. I agree that a cop would have to really be in bad mood to cite someone with nice looking blue LEDs around their charging port. The point of the law has to do with impersonating a police vehicle, which obviously is not the intent here.
