Hey yall. I have an 07 prius that I bought used last year. So I just got back from a 3 month trip and my prius was completely dead when I got back (no surprise). I jumped it, drove around for 30-40 minutes, and then went to get groceries. By the time I got out of the shop, the battery was dead again (lights still came up on the dash, so it wasn't completely dead), and had to jump it again. The second time I jumped it, I got a red triangle with an exclamation mark on the dash. However, when I got home I turned the car off and turned it back on, and the red triangle went away. Both batteries are relatively new (~2 years old), so I just hope it's nothing serious that I have to replace a battery. Could it just be that I have to drive it around a lot more to charge up the battery since it was so dead?
Welcome to PriusChat!! When you have warning lights displayed on the dash, you'll have obd2 codes (DTCs) stored in the computers (ECUs). Using a hybrid compatible scanner would be the next step, otherwise you're driving around with an unknown problem which may become worse. If both were "new", then they may still be under warranty. Yes. You can also buy a small charger, or leave it in 'ready' mode for 8+ hours and the vehicle will charge itself without the need to drive.
