I picked up my stalk today from the dealer and installed it tonight after work and it works great, was realy very simple to replace. I would suggest making sure the steering wheel is dead center and is straight. I used white out to mark a line to make sure it when back in the right position. But they work great the fogs can turn on when the low beams are on and they also turn off automaticly when the high beams come on. also the symbol shows up on the dash that they are on.
I'm interested in adding fog lights to my C 2. I called the dealership I purchased from to find that they want $760 for parts. Anybody have any reasonable suggestions to get them near San Jose? I am contemplating fabricating my own fog light out of the current plastic cover and some yellow LED's+PCB.
I too am adding fogs to my C2 and discovered that the wiring from the light switch to the computer is not there. The wiring from the fogs to the computer is. Bought the stalk, bezels, and aftermarket fogs to install and am stalled at this point. Will probably go with an external relay. Hope this info helps.
Does this happen to a C3 also??? I just received all the parts today, to be installed wednesday, I hope not getting any surprises of missing wires, relay etc.
From other posts in this thread the 3&4 are both wired for the stalk and lights. Should be pretty simple if you follow the advice of the folks that have already done it. I am still looking into adding the wiring to make the stalk work in my 2. Good luck!
Installed everything in my C3 but no turning on, apparently or a relay is needed or the wiring from light switch to computer not there. Review everything again. No response from computer so that means a external relay mod is the only way Don't have any idea of how to do it.
Wish I could help you but I don't plan to buy the stalk. A seperate switch or just wire them into the existing harness as noted on page one of this thread. Someone will see your need for help and respond. Dan
I can tell you what little I know based on a C2. To tell if u have the wiring from the stalk to the computer look at the connector at the stalk end. It should have 2 rows of connectors. A pretty full one and one with 2-3 in it. One of the wires in the short row is used for the fogs. That is where I am stuck at this point. Not much, but u can at least see if that is your problem. John
One last report. My PC2 is not wired for fogs from the ECU to the Headlight Dimmer Switch or to the dash indicator. The wiring is not there. It appears that the ECU is not programmed for it either. Today I grounded the pin on the ECU to check for this and the relay did not pick up. The wiring from the ECU to the fog lights appears to be there. I already purchased and installed the stalk so now I am going to the relay control using the stalk. It is possible to add the wiring to the stalk connector by using repair pins from Toyota. They are way overpriced but fit the connector. Just have to track down the best location for the relay. John
Same here, even go to the dealer and the tech indicate the same as you did, it's probably to change the computer because there is no relay for the fog lamps. Keep updating
Last night while searching for a solution to add the cargo light, I came across this: Toyota of McDonough Parts — 00016-47160 Toyota Prius C Fog Light Kit well, i guess the cargo light have to wait . There is a PDF manual on how to install too.
Hallelujah! That is awesome information! Finally, someone trying to actually help those who want a simple mod without the astronomical stealership pricing. I'm gonna get that kit. Thanks TxTkd!!!
