With a semi-flexible (like foam) mattress, it should be a lot easier if you remove the rear seat, or at least the backrests. I hauled a foam twin mattress from North Jersey to SE North Carolina that way in my Mazda GLC hatchback, which had a significantly shorter cargo hold.
