i noticed the edit issues as well... (i am the king of typos...) but it seemed to me that if you edited before anyone else was able to read it, the edit was fine, but if someone had read it or posted, you could not edit. a few times, i would get busy, be unable to get back to a thread as much as a few hours after the fact, but would see an error, edit it and it worked fine... other times, i would post, someone would reply and i would get email notification of a new post, read mine, try to edit and it would not work and a few times, it was less than 5 mins after the first post... hopefully this change will help.
Thanks for the "edit" return Danny! edit: I was able to really clean up my sunroof post and include the video in the first post instead of far inside.
Thank you. I really feel pretty strongly that peoples' posts are their own to dispose of as they see fit, and I do recall a recent incident when someone went around and zorched all their own posts -- that's their prerogative, I would think, and the "temporary" edit thing took me completely by surprise because I'd never even heard of such a feature in a forum system. It's bad enough that someone's stuff will probably wind up in a google cache for a good long time, but at least if they still control the source material they can hope the search caches get overwritten in due time if they feel the need. . Hopefully you'll find the forehead-smacker as regards the speed issue and everything will be magically instantaneous thereafter! We must have a HUGE database by now and I would understand if it just takes a bunch of processing to handle now and even more in the future. . How would people feel about aging out some of the old threads in certain sub-boards, as long as some placeholder remains such that the numbering doesn't change? Like does anyone really need political rants in Fred's from 3 years ago, etc. . _H*
