Hello guys. Here's one for all the electrical savvy ones. Got the code p2601. Here's what I've done so far. Tested the pump directly with a 12-volt battery. The pump works but when plugged in it does not. Jumped the pump relay in the engine bay directly to see if the pump would work. I've done it before and I jumped the correct pins but nothing happened. Seems like the power is not coming to the relay. What could be my next steps to troubleshoot this? The wiring seems okay under the wheel well near the pump. How do I test from here on? Thanks in advance
Do you know when the pump is supposed to work and when it's not ? It do not just be on all time after certain temps or any of that . you could wire in a test led to the pump and sit it in between the hood n fender close hood and drive . Once heated up come back to driveway shut off car . During all the shut down noises do the led lite up . For a few seconds to fill the silver tank .? Pay attention . That's it . Now won't run again until car cools enough to need a boost to quickly heat car up . Like tomorrow. unless you in the low 50 or better !
Thanks for your reply. I understand the pump only works on startup or shut down to pump the hot coolant in and out of the storage tank. So the one way (in my understanding) to check the pump is to use a pin or a jumper to activate the pump which most people do when bleeding air out of the coolant lines. Once the relay pins are jumped, the pump is supposed to work and I have done so successfully on other cars. The problem is the relay in the relay box directly above, the engine is not getting any power. That's what I'm trying to troubleshoot. It'd be great if someone can point me in the right direction. I think at this point a schematic diagram of the pump circuit would also help as I can use that to try to troubleshoot the issue although I'm not very skilled at troubleshooting electrical problem So any help would be greatly appreciated.
I can't generally post pictures here but I have the whole electrical manual for gen2 2nd edition 06 09. It's a separate couple hundred pages . And you have no fuses or those fusible links and what have you ,? I've never jumped the pump in my life to bleed air out of the lines personally I've had like 7 to 10 of these things . But I've read of people doing so
Thanks again for updating. The problem is solved. There's a 10A fuse In the engine bay fuse box marked *1 whose picture I'm going to attach. That fuse is somehow related to the pump I'm talking about. That fuse was blown. Once I replaced the fuse I was able to operate the pump by jumping the terminals I was was talking about earlier. Thanks for all your help. Hopefully this helps someone else resolve this issue.
Usually most electrical problems or something very simple like a fuse blown we always look their first . Then it's rodent chewing and that sort of carrying on on wires
Finding a fuse blown only tells you that you have an electrical problem, not what the electrical problem is....
Fuse is where I always look first, but in this case the name of the fuse and its location was a mystery. Anyway, that's why I attached the picture. So anyone facing the same problem may have an easier time
