Yes, I recycle the tubes. I also use the back of computer print-outs for scrap paper, then recycle that eventually. My wife take her scrap paper and uses padding compound to make her own pads of scrap paper.

Same here, we recycle everything we can. The city provides the three barrels, and the blue one accepts plastics numbered 1 - 6. Confusingly, they also say "no styrofoam" which is labelled number 6.

Batteries, CFL's and electronics can be brought to the city recycling center, no charge to city residents. We accumulate all that stuff in the garage, and take them in every so often.

Computer paper is reused (print on the second side.) Sensitive documents are shredded in a cross-cut shredder. Then that goes in the compost. We collect all vegetable and fruit scrap for the compost (no meat products). This generates a lot of compost, this year crawling with worms.

We place between one and two kitchen trash bags in the refuse barrel each week, I estimate less than 20 pounds per week.

We save magazines and donate them to the library. The library can sell old magazines for a quarter each, so they get reused, but I don't know if they are recycled.

We even recycle used tissue, which goes in the compost. But just the stuff used on noses. :)

We have no garbage removal service in my smallish town and have to take our stuff to the dump. There are bins for most everything and it's easy enough to sort out our stuff on a daily basis and then put it in the appropriate bin.

Yes to the little cardboard rolls. I also tear apart packaging so I can recycle the paper and plastic properly.

We are down to 1-2 bags of actual garbage per week, which is pretty good for a family of 4, I think-the rest gets recycled. If I get around to starting a compost pile, it should be even better.

Of course, and the paper the rolls are wrapped in.

I recycle receipts! the 'sensitive' ones (card transactions) are shredded, but all that can go in the recycle bin - unless I need to 'feed it' to the worm bin, instead.

I also pull cardboard backers out of plastic wrappers. I recycle cardboard drink sleeves (not the cups, of course). I also recycle tea light cups (they tend to be aluminum).

We went from a regular trash can to a small one, and most weeks, it's not full on trash day. :D

I am very big recycler. I recycle everything that I possibly can.

    1. Any type of plastic wrapping from newspaper bags to the plastic around paper towel rolls. I even recycle small plastic wrapping from stuff like Smarties. I will take all the vasious plastic bags/wrappings and put them into a regular plastic garbage bag and then recycle that. If a bag is too greasy or grimy, I will either wash it first, or toss it.

    2. For people looking to take care of Styrofoam. It would be nice if there were more places like one I saw on G-Word from Planet Green. Where they grind it down and reform it into molding pieces for construction.

As opposed to throwing it out. Check with your local UPS store or Fedex store, or any other packing/shipping store and see if they would take your packing peanuts or block styrofoam. My UPS store does. :)

    3. Check with your local county resources and see if they have a recycling guide. I will post a link to the green guide I have in my area, once I do a few more posts.

    4. I also recycle as much metal and plastic as I can. I will seperate plastic from cardboard items. My curbside pickup will take almost any plastic. And once I have enough metal items together, I will take those to a metal recycle company on the edge of town. They will take a lot of items: waterheater, grill, chainsaw, etc.

    5. I use paper grocery bags to collect my newspapers, or mail items. And therefore the paper bags can be recycled as well. When I go shopping, I use the cloth bags, and almost never use plastic bags anymore.

    6. I work in an office building, that currently does not have recycling. So, I will coolect all my paper and plastic items and take them home when full. If i see someone getting rid of a bunch of envelopes, phone books, or paper; I will usually grab them.

7.And of course, I will recycle all electronic devices, computer components, or anything else I think I can.
