there is a "God" and is answer would be that he was too busy getting Venus ready for human habitation
This is basically a similar scenario as being diagnosed with a deadly disease. Some choose to halt life as they know it and 'enjoy' ie: spend down, and some carry on hoping there will be a last minute repreave. When I was faced with such a decision my first thought was 'I don't want to die destitute and uncomfortable', so I continued to work a little longer, during which time a fix WAS invented. I still thank my lucky stars I didn't 'spend down' and end up 'fixed' but destitute.
religion has nothing to do with it since "God" was an alien from Mars i believe in a God and i know he or she has nothing to do with any known religious organization on Earth
While social forecasting is always an extremely dicey underdaking, I would be willing to make one prediction: religion, in all its polymorphous perversity, would flourish around the globe. The effects would be especially marked among the more primitive, magical sorts of religion, in which prophets, shamans, and televangelists seek to deflect the asteroid by supplicative prayer and other forms of magic.
"Be here now... and be there later... ... let people think what they want. Live each day as though it were your last."
The big difference is that there's a huge "social backdrop" juxtaposed with whatever's inside YOU---a backdrop of which you might be able to remain fairly independent, or which could "drag you down". Since you've alluded to it, are you willing to share what happened in your own case?
Without free will, we are nothing. GOD did not do any of "this", we do it to ourselves. Gad is asking, "What are YOU doing to stop "it". Hmmmm?
