E7022 Not turning on

    I’m looking for help with my 2010 Toyota Prius (JBL system) and the factory E7022 head unit.

    I tried installing a Binize CarPlay radio, but I was missing some cables/adapters for the JBL setup. After attempting the install, I put the original E7022 back in, but now the head unit is completely dead.

    Current symptoms:

    • Screen stays completely black
    • No Toyota logo
    • No button lights
    • No audio
    • No backup camera
    • Climate controls still work
    • Car starts and drives normally
    What I’ve already checked:

    • RADIO fuse tested good
    • Other related fuses tested good
    • All connectors appear fully plugged in
    • Reinstalled the original unit carefully
    • Disconnected/reconnected the 12V battery
    I’m wondering:

    • Did I possibly damage the harness during the aftermarket install?
    • Is there another fuse or relay specific to the JBL system I should check?
    • Has anyone had the E7022 stay completely dead after an aftermarket radio install attempt?
    • Could the Binize setup have caused a communication issue with the JBL amp?
    Any advice or photos of the correct rear connector setup would really help. Thanks!

    Can you get the E7022 headunit to power up out of the car, on a workbench? I think you need to ground pin 20 of the L40 connector while supplying +12 V at pins 1 and 11. In the dash harness, you should be able to ID pin 20 (GND) as a brown wire, pin 1 (B) as a sky-blue wire, and pin 11 (ACC) as a gray wire.

    In the car, pin 1 (B) is normally supplied 12V at all times, to power the unit in sleep mode, and pin 11 (ACC) will be supplied when the car is in ACC, IG ON, or READY, and those are the times the unit will wake up and look like it's on. On the bench you can just connect those pins together to your 12-volt supply and the thing should boot up.
