Engine block heater

    I just had a look at the Euro block heater information that Wayne linked and you tell me how to install the screw into the heater to hold it in. Not in a Prius that's for sure. Very difficult to install the heater without trying to install a screw in it. On the second one with the clip how do you bend the heater element in a tight enough bend to get the body in the hole. Maybe in a Yaris/Echo without the PSD being right there. I'd love to see one of these installed and working. I sure wouldn't want to do it.

    Well, I just made some measurements on my new Prius block heater. As I've seen posted elsewhere, it consumes 420 W initially, then settles at 412W (most resistors increase in value as they warm up). This was with an input voltage of 122 VAC or so. Measured 3.4A draw. I knew my "Kill-A-Watt" would come in handy.
    This picture shows the cord - nothing new there, as most vehicles here have a cord dangling for the block heater.
