Does that heat translate into more failed stem seals on exhaust valves than on intake valves?

I generally don't see many valve problems. Not like I did 20-30 years ago. There is probably some wear in the valve guides, but oil rings will go first. By the time that happens, the car is old enough that engine replacement is economically questionable.

Occasionally a valve spring breaks and drops the valve- which destroys everything.

The materials they use for seals are much better. I seldom see oil smoke on start up or decel - those "classic" symptoms of oil past the valves.
