My '19 is coming up on its 36 months after purchase point and I'm thinking of buying a Toyota Platinum warranty. Reading the Toyota web site, I see the following: "Plans feature $0 or $100 deductible options. Deductible applies to each eligible repair visit. The deductible is the dollar amount you pay for authorized claims related to a single repair visit. If the disappearing deductible option is selected and the selling dealer of the VSA performs covered repairs, the $100 deductible will be waived. Otherwise the full deductible amount applies." and :$0 or $100 disappearing deductible per eligible repair visit. Deductibles can only be waived by the selling dealer. A disappearing deductible is a deductible that is waived if the repair visit is performed by the dealer who sold the VSA plan." I'd like to hear if you have bought a Platinum warranty and then had a covered failure and took it to a dealer other than the one that sold you the VSA. Who chose which deductible applied? Did you choose at time of VSA sale? I don't see one with the deductible at one level and another at the other offered in the prices I have been offered. I ask because there are Toyota dealers that significantly discount the warranties (VSAs). Not in my area. So I'd like to know your actual experience. (Not asking if it is a good idea, how much you paid, etc, Those are covered in other threads.)
Usually a waste of money. I have never paid for an E/W. The money I saved over the years, I can buy a new car with the savings.
But didn't answer the question I asked did he. (I happen to agree with him but wanted some insight about actual experiences with the warranty, not without the warranty. I asked specifically to not have answers from those with his experience. I haven't had a extended warranty in the last 50+ years of owning a car. But I can imaging a warranty being attractive to someone purchasing my car from me directly (as I do sell my cars) helping to sell the car for more or faster.) Nor did you.
