Pop-up alerts work for me (Win 7/FFQ).

I agree, the pop-up window in the mobile version is annoying.

For new posts, I either open the window in a new tab or go back on the browser on mobile.

For better or for worse, I'm guilty of using " Free Ad-Block Browser on Android. No problems!

Yeah, until you click on a Forbes News link. I think they're shooting themselves in foot, blocking everyone with an adblock.

Using Adblock Plus here, with Safari on a pc. It seems to be in their add-ons suite.

    I
    Disagree.
After seeing this discussion I did an experiment and started a new thread just to see if that gives better results that adding to an existing thread. While I did receive 1 response to the new thread, it wasn't helpful (along the lines: do a search) and I consider it equivalent to the existing thread that received no attention whatsoever.

Partially agree, there was more attention with one (useless) response.

    Note:
the experiment is over, don't post in those threads to change the outcome of it (unless you have what I want).

Your mileage will definitely vary. Here is somebody that started a new thread with a simple experience question and for 30 posts..although some are admittedly off-topic.

Well, having made a reasoned statement at #45 you did not invite any response. Did you forget to? I read it and thought it acceptable but had no comment. Perhaps we all though along similar lines....
