Those guys up there, they didn’t deliver the biggest plays on the biggest stage by accident. No, they worked at it, bled for it. They practiced and practiced until it just came naturally. They had swagger, sure, but how could they not? When you do what you do for so long, great performances just become second nature.

Will it be the Honda Civic? Maybe the Chevrolet Malibu? Or possibly the Mazda MX-5 Miata? Yes, it’s that time of year again to highlight the possible winner of the North American Car of the Year. Joining John McElroy to discuss these cars and more are fellow NACTOY jurors Kirk Bell from Motor Authority, Mark Phelan from the Detroit Free Press and Mike Austin from Autoblog.
Both the 2016 Prius and Volt-2 are out of the competition in favor of the Honda Civic. I'm OK with this as we don't need to have Prius vs Volt-2 advocates brag-whinning. My comment in Autoline Daily was:
The Civic was the ‘Putney Swope’ choice that avoided a Prius vs Volt decision. In effect, the Civic is the compromise candidate and not a bad choice.
As for VW buy-back, I’m pretty sure the non-SCR equipped cars, the ~380,000, EA 189 2.0L diesels are impossible to... -

In an interview with Wards Auto, Honda's chief technology strategy officer Keiji Ohtsu predicted that by 2025, Honda wouldn't be selling any cars with traditional internal combustion engines in the world's most populous country. "In 2025, we don't expect to be able to sell conventional internal-combustion engines [in China]," Ohtsu said, "meaning we will be selling mostly hybrids including plug-in types." -

coolant in 2008 prius
I have 30,000 miles on my 2008 and on the last service I was told that the water pump is leaking. I thought this was a bit unusual since the vehicle is garaged in a heated garage when not in use. Anyway, what brand of coolant should I use and what would be the ratio of water to coolant should I use? Thanks in advance for any replies. -

So this is what I posted in the comments:
The 48V ‘mild hybrid’ is a dead end because it continues to run the engine when it should be off. The Prius ‘secret’ is turning off the engine which avoids unnecessary engine overhead.
Starting motors run just under 5 HP, the mechanical overhead of the engine. Even at idle, the engine has to burn enough fuel to overcome engine mechanical overhead. So a Prius sized car needs 5 HP at 45 mph to maintain speed (see username link.) By running the engine constantly, at 45 mph, 50% of fuel is wasted on engine overhead.
