Toyota Replacing BMW as the Ultimate Driving Machine?
Probably should be filed under, never thought I'd see the day, article from a car magazine.
https://www.motorbiscuit.com/bmw-toyota-going-opposite-directions/
Apparently Motor Biscuit thinks so and bemoans where BMW is headed, but knows this is a business decision. They are pointing out all the positives Toyota is producing like their GR series, TRD in their trucks and SUVs, reintroduction of manuals, and the intro of power hybrids while thrumming the negatives BMW is introducing into their car lineup.
Personally Toyota Europe and Lexus Europe are getting the majority of the new car types, like the new 2024 Yaris, GR Yaris, Aygo X, 2024 C-HR, Lexus LBX, and many more including some you can still get with a manual and/or diesel powertrain. Apparently Toyota's foot dragging approach to EVs, unlike the avalanche the European car makers are driving towards, is getting noticed. Not too sure Toyota... -

In addition, he spoke on specific and diverse technologies, including concepts under development, which will help achieve the vision and policies that have been communicated so far. 'Quite frustrating': B.C. man still waiting for EV ordered in 2020
B.C. EV buyers continue to see long wait times | CTV News
Again, Toyota says they can reduce emissions by making more hybrids and PHEVs but seems like Canada is getting the short end of the stick. I haven’t seen a RAV4 Prime with new plates in a while. Last one I saw had a summer/fall 2022 plate. We’ve gone through a few more alphabets since then.

Toyota should push a lot harder for e-gasoline
Toyota has wasted time and money on hydrogen and algae-based Diesel, and now is wasting more effort on biofuels. If Toyota really wants to bet on the continued viability of hybrids in the face of EVs they should get serious about pure-synthetic e-gasoline, as Porsche and others are doing.

Munro Associates Open House June 20
Munro Associates is having an open house, June 20 and for tickets:
https://munrolive.com/electronics-open-house
I bought my 2014 BMW i3-REx after seeing Sandy Munro on Autoline After Hours. Two years later, I bought my 2019 Tesla Model 3 after seeing his review on Autoline. My first Model 3 cross country trip was to Munro's "EV Day" in 2019.
This is the engineering "E" ticket, $49.

Ford to Provide Access to Supercharger Network; Will Add NACS Port to Future EVs
- Starting early next year, Ford EV customers will have access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada, in addition to the over 10,000 DC fast-chargers that are already part of the BlueOval Charge Network. This will give Ford EV customers unprecedented access to fast-charging
- Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning and E-Transit customers will be able to access the Superchargers via an adapter and software integration along with activation and payment via FordPass or Ford Pro Intelligence
- In 2025, Ford will offer next-generation electric vehicles with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector built-in, eliminating the need for an adapter to access Tesla Superchargers

EVs are driven less
Source: The Most and Least Driven Electric Cars - iSeeCars.com
iSeeCars analyzed the data of over 860,000 vehicles to determine which electric vehicles were driven the most and the least, and to compare the EV numbers with traditional 3-year-old cars powered by internal combustion engines.
“Tesla drivers come the closest to matching the driving behavior of traditional car owners,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “Without Tesla, the average miles per year for EV drivers would drop from 9,059 to 6,719. It’s also interesting to see the Porsche Taycan, a direct competitor to the Model S, being the least-driven electric car. At 4,846 miles a year, it’s driven about half as much as the Model S at 9,340 miles per year.”
With 108,000 miles on my 2019 Tesla Model 3, guess I didn't get the memo.
