Plug-In Hybrids Polluting more?
Not sure if this has been posted before, seems familiar? Maybe similar news article. Anyway, this was posted yesterday on Green Car Reports:
Report: Plug-in hybrids are polluting more than claimed
The argument skirted, but worth considering: even if the engines are polluting more, if they're only running say 20% of the time, does it cancel out?Mendel Leisk Dec 10, 2020 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 1,809 Likes: 0 Replies: 3 -

Porsche building an e-fuel plant...
...with Siemens in Chile.
"Wind energy will power the electrolyzers to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. CO2 will then be filtered out of the air and processed with the aforementioned hydrogen to create synthetic methanol. A proprietary methanol-to-gasoline process provided under license by Exxon Mobil results in e-gas. Porsche says the liquid fuel will be safe without modification for all of its cars, including classic models."
How Porsche's new e-fuel plant could pave the way for guilt-free classic-car motoring - Roadshow
Chile was chosen for its wind supply. The first phase could be making 34k gallons by 2022. This will go to what Porsche called beacon projects; their race race program and other promotional projects. They plan a fast ramp up though; 14.5 million gallons by...Trollbait Dec 7, 2020 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 6,118 Likes: 3 Replies: 19 -
About 150 Cadillac dealers would rather leave the brand than sell EVs
Source: About 150 Cadillac dealers would rather leave the brand than sell EVs
Dealerships might hamper GM’s plans to electrify its cars. Wall Street Journal tipsters claim that roughly 150 GM dealerships in the US have decided to drop the Cadillac brand and accept a buyout (ranging from $300,000 to over $1 million) rather than spend about $200,000 to upgrade the dealerships with charging stations, repair hardware and other equipment needed to sell EVs. Many of these brands only sell a few Cadillacs per month versus more for Buick, Chevrolet and GMC, but it’s still a significant blow when GM has 880 Cadillac dealers in the country.
Who would rather sell out than sell EVs.

Japan Is Reportedly Aiming to Go All-Electric and Hybrid Around 2035
Is the age of cars powered solely by internal-combustion coming to an end? It certainly seems so, with more governments issuing proclamations about when they're aiming to transition to electrified cars. Nikkei's newswire reports that Japan is targeting the mid 2030s for when its cars are all electrified as part of its aim to become a zero-emission country by 2050. It's not as ambitious as the U.K.'s recently announced goal to ban internal combustion entirely by 2035, but still a big deal, as Japan's is a huge auto market.

Deutschland and Hydrogen
Source: German lobbyists are pushing hydrogen fuel cells—but German automakers | EVANNEX Aftermarket Tesla Accessories
There’s a puzzling power struggle going on in Germany. The federal government, cheered on by various industry trade groups, has grand plans to build a hydrogen fuel cell ecosystem. However, two of the country’s three major automakers have stated in no uncertain terms that hydrogen fuel cells are unsuitable for passenger vehicles, and that battery-electric vehicles are the way forward (a conclusion that Tesla’s founders reached back in 2003, and that Elon Musk has reiterated in colorful terms many times).
. . .
Works for me. We're seeing legacy leaders who have not gotten the updated memo that hydrogen is too expensive except by taking tax funds from other government services.
