I just saw a commercial for the BMW I series cars on TV. It looks like it was part of the Blade Runner 2049 movie. -

Beyond the aero "tweaks", the truck has a hybridized drive train along with solar panels to power accessories.
The individual/company Shell is partnered with holds the record for fuel economy in a filled truck at 13.4mpg. He was only getting 4.4mpg back in the mid-80's when he started his company.
They plan to start a fuel economy run with this latest truck in about 3 days.

Model 3 VINs at ~10% of Reservations
My understanding is Tesla Model 3 reservations exceed 400,000. Then I started following the VIN tracking of Model 3 production.

Tesla registered an additional 3,661 Model 3 VINs with the NHTSA on Friday. Now, the highest recorded number jumps to 42,942. This is a whopping 8,000+ new registrations inside of one week’s time. For comparison, let’s not forget that it took the automaker from July to December of 2017 to register its first 8,000 Model 3 VINs.
Of course this could be Tesla having a little fun with the skeptics and VIN counters. But it does fit the "S curve" learning model: The learning curve

VW orders batteries

The deals take the German manufacturer within striking distance of a sought-for 50 billion-euro total. By 2025, VW plans to sell as many as 3 million all-electric cars per year, Chief Executive Officer Herbert Diess told investors Thursday at the annual shareholder meeting in Berlin.
Most of the article read like something written by a Tesla stock shorter with a lot of gratuitous comments about Tesla.

This flawed report is getting some coverage by skeptics but there are problems:
- Electronaut - is a limited edition, pre-2014 BMW i3-REx. He tested the oldest, possible model year, a limited edition, with the prices for a new, 2018 model. He reports the steering was imprecise which in a 4.5 year old, used, pre-production car without sharing the odometer, accident history, and quality of potholes is at best, a poor choice.
- Return to center turn signal - return to center is a consistent control pattern for cruise control and wipers. It is pass-fail on the BMW IQ test.
- Used car review with new car prices - this is beyond misleading. Replacement costs of used, end-of-lease BMW i3 are closer to $20k which is the price he should have used for the used car he tested.
- REx is more than range extender - having done multiple 700 mi trips getting 40 MPG, the car handles cross country trips as easy as any motorcycle . . . the engine...

Hello, I have a 2003 Toyota Prius and starting to see the death triangle and getting a error code of 3125. I looked up the code explaining inverter issues. Toyota dealer not helpful and very rude! Need help with next step! Car has 226,000 miles! Thanks. -

The 17 states filed suit in the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The move was led by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, and the suit alleges that that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s effort to roll back the stringent gas mileage rules that were adopted by former President Barack Obama’s administration is “unlawful.”
California was joined by Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and the District of Columbia.
Minnesota also joined the lawsuit through its Pollution Control Agency and Department of Transportation.

LEXUS TAKES THE “PREMIUM” OUT OF ITS HYBRIDS
The hybrid version of any car tends to only be available on the higher trim levels, making an already pricy package even more expensive. But Lexus is finding success by taking “some of the premium out” of its hybrid models. Or in other words, making them less expensive. According to WardsAuto, in the first quarter, RX Hybrid sales are up over 33% and the NX is up close to 170%. Lexus will do the same with the new ES sedan that just debuted at the Beijing auto show and is currently only seeing a hybrid take-rate of 10%.
