Tesla hits 200,000 cars, meaning lower tax credit for buyers

"(Reuters) - Tesla Inc has delivered 200,000 electric cars to buyers in the United States, a spokesperson said on Thursday, meaning tax credits will now begin to be lowered, while rivals such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW AG and Audi AG will bring electric models to the market with a full tax credit in place.

Both GM and Tesla have been lobbying Congress since last year, hoping to win changes to tax law that would allow them to continue to collect the tax credit, but have been unsuccessful to date."

On July 3, 2018, Ontario cancelled the cap and trade program as part of its commitment to bring gas prices down by 10 cents a litre and help reduce costs for Ontario families and businesses by $1.9 billion dollars per year.

Given the Electric and Hydrogen Vehicle Incentive Program and the Electric Vehicle Charging Incentive Programs are funded through cap-and-trade proceeds, these programs are cancelled.

Applications will be accepted from dealerships, car owners or prospective car owners only if one of the following conditions has been met:

• Eligible vehicles that have been delivered to consumers, registered, and plated on or before July 11 will receive the incentive.
• Inventory that dealers have on lots or orders made by dealerships with manufacturers on or before July 11, will also be honoured for the incentive provided that the vehicle is delivered to consumers, registered, and plated by September 10.

Hey everyone,
I just posted my week-long commuter review of the Kia Niro PHEV.

Definitely some pluses but also a few minuses. All-in-all, my initial impression is that this is a solid PHEV contender.

I have not found J.D. Power surveys to be great but nevertheless:

This is supposed to be a shuttle vehicle.

The original Fisker appealed to Bob Lutz enough that he bought some gliders to install Corvette drivetrains. It never really appealed to me because of the faux engine compartment but here it is:


I can't explain why but the Fisker shuttle really looks bad to me and I'm not particularly interested in 'sheet metal art.' It would be kind to call it bullet shaped but more accurate to call it a 'Vitamin E' or some sort of suppository. All I can say for me is UGH!

With all the news about Tesla, you would think they are the number one in EV manufacture and sales in the world. But this is not the case at all. The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance is still the biggest EV car maker. Then you have many Chinese brands that are selling lots in China.

No Tesla in the race this year. Was hoping someone would enter their stock Model 3. Someone did enter a 2018 Leaf (2nd Gen), although it does look a bit modified for the run. Yet to see a time on that.

Congratulations to Toyota and the Toyota Hybrid Team for making history today. Toyota Hybrid Race cars came in 1st and 2nd place at Le Mans this morning. This is amazing, the competion was not even close! Hybrid tech and Hydrogen Tech from Toyota have a very bright future!
