Next-generation solid-state batteries in production in China ?
Report from Xinhua, the Chinese news agency, that Chinese start-up Qing Tao (Kunshan) Energy Development Co. Ltd, has come out with a solid state lithium-ion battery with an energy density of over 400 Wh/kg. That's about twice what a normal "wet" Liion holds and should not be able to leak or catch fire. Let's hope it's true:

2019 RAV4 hybrid endorsed by Tesla short seller
Source_1: The New 39 MPG Toyota SUV Vs. Tesla Model 3: Same Fuel Cost Per Mile - Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) | Seeking Alpha
- The most significant car arriving in 2019 may just be Toyota’s new all-wheel drive SUV, which has been rated at 39 MPG.
- At 39 MPG and today’s nationwide fuel price of $2.61, that’s $67 to drive the U.S. monthly average of 1,000 miles.
- Guess what else is $67 per month? Driving a Tesla Model 3 while fueling it at the Tesla Supercharger ($0.26 per kWh in California).
Of course I suggested he drive his RAV4 to where the "nationwide fuel price of $2.61" exists like 1,100 miles to Texas.

Off the shelf EV

- 80 kW(108 hp) - maximum continuous
- 135 kW(180 hp) - peak power
You'll still have to provide charger, battery, and battery manager. But this would be a great kit to convert retro-bodies to EV. Say a 1960s VM MicroBus, body length pack, and replace the drive train.
