I have a 2006 Prius with about 53,000 miles on it. For some strange reason, about 2 times a week there will be no sound at all from the FM radio. The AM radio works, the CD player works, and the AUX in works fine, but complete silence from the FM stations (not even static or a hiss). If I turn the unit off and back on again over and over, the FM will eventually come on and work fine. Thoughts?
The pattern indicates an internal problem in the head unit. You could try to reboot it by disconnecting the 12 volt for a few minutes and then reconnecting, but that's a long shot. Plenty of used head units around in junk yards, ebay, etc.
