I have recently acquired a 2006 in the winter in Oregon. The consumption indicator was right around 30.3. When I filled it for the first time, the old-school math read 19.0-the bars on the gas gauge agreed with the 19.0. Any idea as to what is going on? Any help is appreciated. Baffling.

There is a rubber bladder inside the gas tank that can cause filling problems as it ages

There is not enough context to even know what you're saying.

Are you talking about the average MPG on the Consumption screen

The math you mention is miles driven รท gallons filled = MPG?

There is more to the filling problems and more often than not the NA bladder gets conviently blamed. It is very hard to verify and makes sense, right.

However, those same problems exist in markets without bladders too, so you need to cast your net wider.

The EVAP system needs to be looked at.

Do you flood your charcoal canister by topping off right up to the top of the filler neck? If so, you should stop this practice. Stop filling when the pump auto-stop kicks in.
