I've been using it for about 5 years. It really does last about 6 months. I put it on in the spring and the fall. The best thing is that bugs and ice don't seem to stick very well compared to bare glass or Rain-X. Normally most bugs wash off with either the washer fluid or a light rain. And scraping the windows is easier in the winter.

I used to use Rain-X, but found that it lasted only days in hard rain on a long trip and seemed to rot the wiper blades unless you left the blade parking area untreated. Also, the Rain-X would leave a haze of water behind the blades in rain that is mostly abscent with the Aquapel.

Aquapel is harder to put on correctly (I do it myself). The price you quote seems high - I've seen it on ebay for as little as $5 US per applicator. It takes two to do a good job on the windshield and front windows. I use 3 to do all the windows. I buy the professional kit with 24 applicators for around $100 US funds.

All that being said, I find that it does not work as well on the Prius as it did on my old Audi A6 or Barb's old Taurus. There seems to be a layer of undisturbed air right over the windshield, so the rain drops do not just blow off in the wind like my previous cars. I never even used the wipers unless it really started raining with my Audi. That doesn't work with the Prius. I will still use it for its other benefits.

Thanks for the swift comeback. Tom, that's exactly the information I was looking for. I'm inclined to find a less expensive source and, like you I'll do it myself.
    Appreciated
