There was a Velite 6 first; that was a rebadged Volt. There is also a Velite 7 that might be a rebadged Bolt; it is smaller than the 6. The 6 is available as a BEV and a PHEV. The BEV originally had two range options, but that became one, longer range with a refresh. The Wiki page has conflicting info between the table and text. The table claims the PHEV has a 55.6kWh battery with 130 miles of range. That is a larger battery than the first 2 BEV models, with less EV range. Doesn't make much sense. The text, and other articles, report the PHEV has a 9.5kWh pack with 37 miles of range, which seems more reasonable. The Velite 6 is essentially a little bit smaller Prius v Prime, and the EPA range would likely be close to the out going Prius Prime's. non-mobile site https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buick_Velite_6 The R&D was spent on a car specced for the market in China. Doing US spec would incure a cost, but I think certification for here would add more to the price tag. Those costs, plus the ones over whether to set up production elsewhere, or expand it in China are factors.
