<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Wildkow @ Jul 10 2007, 10:41 AM) [snapback]476216[/snapback]</div> Look closer, Kow, that's no VOR. But as to its being a type of aviation beacon, yes, it's definitely that. MB
Don't confuse people, AirportKid! You might have been the first PriusChat member to fly there, but you were only flying in the proverbial footsteps of those who flew there before.
This game is a lot of fun but I sure suck at it! <_<  Wildkow p.s. Nice one pewd, how did you come across that name? [attachmentid=9585]
>p.s. Nice one pewd, how did you come across that name? My family used to rent a vacation house on the beach nearby every summer. Tis' been a decade or 3 or 4, but I recognizied it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(pewd @ Jul 10 2007, 01:15 PM) [snapback]476339[/snapback]</div> Pewd, this is downright eerie - hours ago I got my next landmark ready to go: [attachmentid=9586] Which I deliberately cropped to center on the parking lot rather than the actual "scene of the crime" which is at the top (and the infamous Schoolbook Depository building is at center left) - and here you selected the same place and event for YOUR landmark!!! - the memorial plaza a block away from Dealey Plaza. You been reading Vince Bugliosi's latest opus by chance? Dadgummit - now I gotta go find another landmark --- Standby -----
>You been reading Vince Bugliosi's latest opus by chance? nope, but i live in dallas, so that one came to mind. too bad the resolution isnt a tad better, there are usually 2 orange 'x's painted on the street at the points of impact.
Whoops, where does time go? - I got busy and neglected getting a new landmark up - I still don't have time so it's open to anyone that wants to post one. MB
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(airportkid @ Jul 10 2007, 05:30 PM) [snapback]476481[/snapback]</div> O Tay . . . got one waiting . . . [attachmentid=9587]
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Sufferin' Prius Envy @ Jul 10 2007, 08:57 PM) [snapback]476493[/snapback]</div> Since it is in Wimbledon, it must be the famous grass courts? Well, here is the link http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...p;z=17&om=1 will post in a second. OK here is the next one. Let's see if someone can find it before airportkid! [attachmentid=9592]
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Sufferin' Prius Envy @ Jul 10 2007, 05:57 PM) [snapback]476493[/snapback]</div> Wimbleton in England. Wildkow
Arghhhhhhhh not again! Does editing the post affect the time stamp? I don't know how I missed Toups posted solution, sorry.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Wildkow @ Jul 10 2007, 10:27 PM) [snapback]476551[/snapback]</div> No problem! No editing does not affect the time stamp. Sorry. BTW, this is a pretty neat exercise, I am learning a lot of places I never knew.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Wildkow @ Jul 10 2007, 10:10 PM) [snapback]476541[/snapback]</div> Well, here is the link to Wildkow's image http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...p;z=15&om=1 and it appears to be the University of Kansas, but is there any more significance? BTW, it is harder if you edit off the latitude and longitude from your image. Here is my image again so there is a single active image: [attachmentid=9592]
Grrrrr, I'm a DORK! The caption was going to be that with Google Earth it should only take moments to find because once the globle stopped turning it was at it's defualt position and all you had to do was zoom in to find the location. Wildkow p.s. I edited out my image, it took me a few minutes to realize that you have to remove the image tag and the image to remove it completely, so as not to conflict with Toups. . .
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Wildkow @ Jul 10 2007, 11:03 PM) [snapback]476572[/snapback]</div> Relax. If you look through this thread, you will see that you are not anything like the first person to leave the latitude and longitude on the image. Sorry to spoil it, that would have been a nice trick. Let's see if someone can beat airportkid in finding the image!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Toups @ Jul 10 2007, 08:25 PM) [snapback]476580[/snapback]</div> DONE! Fort Independence, Bhaaasston http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=Fo...p;z=15&om=1 I wonder if airportkid saw the image? Funny, it's not far off the south end of Logan Airport  . . so my guess is he saw it in person from the air. I did. New one: No hints yet. Yes, it has a name, and no, it's not "ocean," "sea," etc. [attachmentid=9597]
>Fort Independence, Bhaaasston so go north from the fort, about 1 mile to the airport zoom all the way in on that airplane parked on 33-right it seems to be missing something
