I've seen some pretty strange landforms resulting from glaciation...but these don't look all that glacial. Could they be layers of folded rock, worn unevenly by wind erosion?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(airportkid @ Sep 5 2007, 09:59 AM) </div> Yeah, I don't know either. From the Coke reference I was also thinking Africa (isn't that from "The Gods Must be Crazy"?, but all I found there were distinctive sand dunes. I won't bluff you, this one is small, nation's smallest for what it is actually, so I'll include a larger scale picture to help out. [attachmentid=11160] [attachmentid=11161]
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(nerfer @ Sep 5 2007, 10:18 AM) </div> too many clues... I just entered "smallest bluff nation" into google and Ball's Bluff Cemetery was the first hit. Easy one, hope not a repeat. Hey guys, just FYI, I edited the first post of this thread to include links to both the unorganized list and the categorized list of used locations.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(efusco @ Sep 5 2007, 10:30 AM) </div> Yeah, I didn't think to google it with my clues until I already posted it, and then it was too late (I could've edited it, but that would give the early readers an unfair advantage). I didn't think that bit of trivia would hit so high on the Google list, but I underestimated its power The Union was routed here, and they tried to escape by swimming the Potomac. I walked the shoreline a few times, hoping to spot a musket ball or bayonet that they dropped as they tried to lighten their load, but to no avail. I did find a low ridge off in the woods which has the markings of an embankment for the front line skirmish. I think there's only 12 graves in this cemetary, although some of the documentation says a memorial to 54 soldiers.

Pixar Studios? Just a sec, let me look it up and post a picture. Yup. [attachmentid=11182] Give me a moment or two to find something.

I found this puppy while I was sniffing around for 'Snoopy' from a previous picture. Hopefully I can find it again, just in case anyone loses the scent. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(hyo silver @ Sep 6 2007, 11:11 AM) </div> I think you better. That island is so tiny it barely ranks status as even an islet - I've picked up rocks in my back yard bigger than that and tossed them over the fence. The only dog shaped island google can find is Christmas Island, and Snoopy Island only looks like Snoopy viewed from a beach towel, not from above. Did you stumble across this while "flying" over candidate shorelines or did a google search of some kind take you right to it? Knowing that would probably be helpful without giving too much away - although if you found it while on a "flying" expedition we'll need some navigational guidance. MB
There are big dogs, there are small dogs, and there are teeny tiny little dogs. And, they don't always lie the same way. I found this - and others - while I was following the Beagle's path. It's possible to find with the name of a local settlement, but I'll be a sly dog and keep quiet for now.
