It's my understanding that you can't "save" those green bars once you get home. They go away and when next you start your car, you have to gain them again. So #1 is outa luck. Remember....you cannot buy coffee....you can only rent it.
You realize that Einstein worked on his Grand Unified Theory pretty much until he died without success. Just sayin.

It runs along the line of thinking that the human predilection for breaking everything down to its lowest common denominator or finding ways to explain life in a thirty second commercial spot or a thirty minute sitcom, can somehow be fashioned in such a way to do the same to the laws of physics. I wager that the universe isn't going to accommodate that wish.

It just says that maximizing MPG-FE generally requires avoiding using the battery as much as possible. Don't charge it, don't discharge it, unless absolutely necessary. IOW, pulse (accelerate at a rate that neither charges the battery nor draws from it) and glide (coast with the ICE off, and no regen or power drawn from the battery) I believe I've read that this is how the best MPG-FE has been accomplished so far, and as a matter of physics it makes the most sense to me. (sorry, had to defend my "theory")
The car will work hard to keep sixpence in its little box in the back. Anything extra you get to spend, but anything less and you have to pay it back. . _H*
