131 miles through the teeth of LA traffic on a Friday morning at 630 AM. The entire length of the 405 where you hit the major junctions of freeways 101, 10, 105, 91, 605, 55, 73, and the el toro Y the 5. Make a guess and check below. 1 3/4 hours. I think I can get used to these high gas prices. We didn't even use much of the carpool lane because it was faster in the regular lanes.
I would have guessed 3 hrs! I've only ever experienced total gridlock during my few visits to L.A. Worst traffic I've ever seen. But you averaged 74.86 mph Not bad. I try to average 60, including surface streets, during my commutes to work in San Francisco.
i've noticed it all over the L.A. area the past 60 days. traffic is noticeably light. no white "contractor" F-150's with construction stuff running around town. no drywall, framers, laborers. even soccor moms are curtailing their driving. it's not only the price of gas, but the economic downturn as well. especially in the construction industry.
My brother goes from Carlsbad to Simi (or Thousand Oaks) every other week. Ride with him (but you might have a kid on your lap) and your mpg would be much better! My Bro lives in Carlsbad, my Sis lives in Simi, I grew up in Simi (1963-1975). Much different then
That's why they call it Friday Lite! With the high gas prices it's only gotten better. On the other hand, it took me 2 1/2 hours to drive from Los Angeles to Ventura on Wednesday. ;(
It took me three hours for me to commute to work on Wednesday . . . the smoke from all the forest fires was really thick. I woke up at 7am and then proceeded to roll over and slept for another three hours. At 10am, I got out of bed and walked 20 feet to my office when the phone rang. Friday light? Pfffft.
