Strategic Petroleum Reserve apparently now holds 695 out of 727 million barrel capacity. Which is either >95% full, or with space for 32 million barrels more. Depends on how one wishes to view it. SPR FAQ also says it was filled at an average price <$30 per barrel. Which one could not shop for currently. As current net imports are about zero (post #100), it makes sense not to top off the tank. So my sarcasm @94 seems unfounded. Regret any inconvenience caused. Carry on.
U.S. hit a peak of 13.1 million barrels per day of crude oil production in recent weeks. That looks to be the record for the foreseeable future. If the SA/Russia output war goes on long enough, that would likely become permanent record.
