Griot's garage has the most unbelievable prices in the world! They would have to do a whole lot more than clean my car for what they want for good but not outstanding products. They have some great ideas, but even their hoses and plain cotton towels are outrageous. You can get a very comparable product for half or less than what they ask for it, but it is convenient if cost is no issue since you can look in their catalog (and I firmly think that anyone that can send out as many catalogs as they do has to be charging too much!) and find things you didn't even know you wanted, then go to Pep Boys and find a similar product.

I agree. I use Griot's when I need a specialty item (like fine glass polish), and they have a great sheepskin mit that's very high quality and reasonably priced, but for the most part their prices are very high. If you've ever seen Richard Griot's home garage and car collection, you'll understand that this is a very lucrative business. Good for him--he found a niche market (car nuts who will pay premium prices to pamper their toys :p) and has done a great marketing job.

I was just looking at my latest Griot's catalog. What a great bathroom magazine! I noticed a 15 oz spray can of 3M Adhesive Cleaner on page 14 for $14.99. I just bought the identical can for $8.99 a couple of days ago.

As I said, though, you can sure get some great ideas for things I didn't even know existed on those pages! Foot long Q-tips to properly clean your grill! Who would have thunk it? I sure didn't and I sure won't either, but it is interesting. A regular Q-tip held in needle nose pliers works pretty well. And I am sure not going to do that often enough to get a special tool for that.

    But it is fun.
