BUT Dr Frank converted a Prius into a PlugIn Prius years ago. (I wonder if he's single ) I wonder where Darrell is?? We are really going at him now! Darrell should be smug. He's even went so far as to add a solar panel on his roof! He's a smart guy!
The RAV4 EV has regen braking. (Toyota did not mess around, this vehicle is complete). I have Wind Power at the house, installation took 2 seconds and cost 37 cents. (Check the box on the form, mail it to my local utility). It does raise the cost of electricity at my house from 5.5 cents to about 8 cents. My normal power is hydro, so it's not like either one is all that dirty. I'm getting a new house or else I would have a RAV4 EV already. Nate
I would like a Rav4 but in my case I would rather get a Plug for my Prius. I don't plan on staying in WI <hopefully> so I wouldn't want to get a Rav4 and then have to worry about shipping in to CA if I end up moving there. (I got enough stuff to already worry about moving) So I'm set that I just want a Plug for my Prius!
Oh good lord. I just spit most of my lunch out my nose. Nate you suck - and now you need to come over and clean my monitor. It has been a REALLY interesting experience coming to this board, and researching the Prius. Prius owners ARE a pretty smug group - and for good reason. They're driving one of the cleanest automobiles available. And unfortunately - *available* is the key word here. Please everybody - don't hate me just because I'm better than you.
The regeneration efficiency of the Rav is better than any other production EV ever on the road. You can reclaim almost 50% of the energy expended (the Prius does 10 or 15% for comparison - if I recall correctly). In stop-and-go driving, your range is extended in a HUGE way. You can get it in three ways: a button on the shifter for light regen, shift into B (like in the Prius) for heavy regen) and use the brakes for seamlessly blended regen (almost 100% regen until you REALLY need stopping power now, at which time the friction brakes are added) In the ACP cars, you can lock the wheels with the amount of regen available to you! But wait! We're getting off topic! Where's the rope?
Good point! Somebody really needs to start a "I love Darell" thread. (Sorry, I was just sucked up into the spirit of the whole thing. Feel free to hate me. I'm used to it. I have neighbors who own Hummers.)
Oh, his highness, King of Smugness, has joined us to honor us with his presence! I must not have noticed his arrival due to the quietness of EV! Or perhaps our paths have not crossed as I was busy buying gasoline! Either way, I shall prevail, and have my revenge, my beloved plug. Maybe edrive, maybe RAV4 EV, but it will happen. My smugness depends upon it. (Lucky Bastard). Nate P.S. Wipe off your own dang monitor. And while you are at it, wipe that smug look off your face. (If you can). ;-)
I wave my plug in your general direction. [Broken External Image]:http://www.darelldd.com/ev/images/rav4/rav_plug/rav_smplug08.jpg
Wow, that's a big plug. Did you have to get some special sort of socket installed so you can plug it in?
It gives driving in reverse a whole new meaning! I've been tempted to paint a giant matching outlet on the garage door. Here's a page with a few more views of that thing: http://www.darelldd.com/ev/rav_plug.htm
Nate couldn't handle a man-sized plug like that. He'll have to start with charging his toothbrush, and slowly work his way up from there. Hey... that reminds me - why don't we have gasoline-powered tooth brushes?
Funny. Lots of folks thought it was PhotoShop. I'm not that good at PhotoShop though! While I've tested it at 60mph, I don't normally drive this way, no. But I do use it for parades! [Broken External Image]:http://www.darelldd.com/ev/images/rav4/rav_plug/050416_picnic_day_gerh051.jpg
