Haha thanks Critic! I see you found me over on BITOG too Btw, I almost bought a winter grey metallic 2013 on the lot... it was actually the car I was going to buy the day I found my silver 2012. They were both certified pre-owned and in very nice shape, but the 2012 had slightly less miles.
I'm with you on those wheel covers. I call them the Iron Crosses... I'd remove them, as many people have, but I have a light colored Prius and the dark colored rims underneath I don't think would look good. Two really basic things with The Prius that I don't understand why Toyota simply doesn't do better. #1 was the cheap plastic scratchy feeling steering wheel. Worst feeling base steering wheel on any vehicle I have ever owned. Immediately bought "Wheelskins". #2. Ugliest wheel covers ever. Why go to all the trouble of a "Sporty" Gen 3 redesign only to slap those ugly wheel covers on? Supposedly there is some aerodynamic benefit to the design...or at least that is the rumor, but I can't believe Toyota couldn't find some wheel cover that looks a lot better.
When we got out 2010, new, the wheel covers on 15" were THE factor that tipped us to get the model with 17" rims. Toyota's rational, slapping plastic wheel covers over alloys, not the brightest.
A lot of people do. I think the rims without covers look better. BUT...I've got a Seaglass Pearl Prius, and my year the wheel is painted dark. I don't think the dark wheel with the Seaglass would look good.
