I tend to agree about VW. I read the recent Jalopnik article about their BEV platform and it was quite impressive. Seems like VW will be set up well to introduce low cost BEVs that will actually make a decent profit. It will be very interesting when VW ramps production. Of course, until then it is all 'vaporware'.
me too, if i'm around long enough for the right model, proof of reliability and longevity, and lack of equivalent competition
I honestly think they are out to redeem themselves...but yeah..I'm skeptical too..hence the 'vaporware' comment above.
hard to say. you can try to redeem yourself, or you can pretend to try to redeem yourself. in the short term, you can't know. they have a lot of friends in government, and the behind the scenes machinations are never obvious, unless someone drops a dime
True...Dieselgate isn't helping the trust issue at all. like I said...I'm skeptical but from the article it looks promising at least. Seems much harder to 'cheat' with BEVs?
I just know I’m looking forward to taking a test drive. First though, I’ll be checking carefully for a hidden tailpipe
Let me know when: I can buy one at a local dealer, not one 50 miles away. Repair parts are next day available. Service techs are trained in quantities proportionate to the number of EVs sold.. There is a charger/fueling network that covers the east coast including places like the NC mountains, the coast, etc.
You guys crack me up. Gee it looks like I'm playing devil's advocate on more than one thread these days! I will say that most of my TDI owning, Prius hating, friends and coworkers soundly shut up after diesel gate...so that's good!
