I probably used the wrong term. Its not so much a hook, but rather a big eye bolt that the tow truck would hook on to. One is locate under the hatch floor by the jack in a foam cutout. On our 2010 I purchased an extra to provide another tie down point for a canoe we carry on top of the car.
They make outstanding tiedown points for boats, etc on the roof. Solid, no chafing of the bumper by the straps. The Gen 3 had two rings located under the rear bumper that I used for rear tiedowns, tried to alleviate bumper chafing with pieces of paint protection film. The bad news is that the Gen 4 has a shield covering the area under the rear bumper. There is however ONE point for a towing eye in the rear bumper. The Gen 3 towing eyes look identical to the Gen 4 part, but the pitch of the thread is ever-so-slightly different. So I bought two towing eyes ($40 each, krypton is expensive!) for the Gen 4. How does this relate to the DRL's? Help, I'm lost.
It is a kissing cousin, so yes. We were discussing the holes and options for the Prius in the front. The covers were next to the lights and I wondered if it was a light option. Guess I should take two months and read the manual. War and Peace. Also old people are allowed to go down rabbit trails and Alice and Wonderland holes..
Use a penknife blade, screwdriver is too thick. Insert it in the gap between the cover and the bumper, midway along the vertical gap towards the centerline of the car. Pry sideways very gently, and that side of the cover will pop up. When you go to reinstall them, they are marked on the back as to where they go.
