You don't have to live in Germany or a state that has a law stating stay-right-except-to-pass, to realize that you are impeding traffic and are acting self-righteous. Acting in a predictable manor is the basis of safe driving, and if a driver approaches you in the left lane they might not know how you will react to a car closing in.
