Somebody had asked in another thread, how they could leave their dog in the locked car with the AC running.
That is a somewhat common intent. But it lies outside car manufacturers' concerns, and is not legal in a growing number of jurisdictions. And if it becomes a manufacturer-sanctioned use, then they are going to face some liability exposure in the inevitable incidents of mechanical failure or fuel starvation leading to pet death. Thus, I expect it to remain a strictly unsanctioned, DIY application.
Yes, I would never leave a pet in a car. Even with AC running. (In fact, a recent story in the news said that a Police K9 officer's dog died... left in the car with the AC running, but the car's engine failed and the dog died from heat. It's a common practice for them to leave the dog in the car, but you never know when an engine malfunction might occur.)
