They're rock hard but in a good way. Every person I've had in the car has complimented the seats. Also the passenger seat lays down flat - might be my girlfriends favorite part of the car for road trip snoozes.
I like the amount of bolstering and the lumbar, but the butt cushioning is a little too hard. I've been on a couple 1000+ mile trips and I was a little sore after the ride. It's not a big deal though.
