It's coming here, Mazda has videos about the diesel on the US website. I would post the link but I can only access the mobile site now.
No vids on the mobile site as far as I can tell. I couldn't find a link to switch to the desktop site.
The extra $0.30 - $0.45 cents per gallon for diesel vs. regular unleaded makes this a tough sell in my area unless you just like diesels. So subtract a few mpg or more from the EPA score to compensate for higher fuel prices.
it should be coming later in 2013... it is a good engine, Euro VI if I remember correctly... good mix of power and mpg. some small issues to start with which should be fixed by now. it gets about the same mpg as 2.0 TDI but with EuroVI and little bit more power... so that should be few mpg more over 2.0 TDI in USA.
Yeah you're right. The Kammback has produced such styling masterpieces as the AMC Gremlin, Pontiac Aztec, Citroen CX and the Lancia Y10.
Why on earth are we wasting our time with Diesels? Clean Diesels are an oxymoron as the World Health Organization has stated time and time again. Pushing Clean Diesels is the same as saying Cigarettes don't cause lung cancer? They both do! Diesel Technology is a joke and should go the way of the Dinosaurs, extinct already!
Mazda has said they'd be bringing a 6 diesel sedan but no promise on the wagon os it's doubtful. The US diesel wagon with a stick remains a VW-only phenomenon.
This is a midsize sedan, why are you comparing it to a Prius? Midsize sedans are one of the best selling segments so it seems like a lot of people have old-style preferences for looks. I usually use a block heater which makes starting easy, but here's one time where it was cold (-8F) and I didn't get to plug it in.
I have, it is not a midsize sedan. Interior volume puts it in the midsize class mostly because of the high roof but useful measurements such as headroom, legroom, shoulder room, hip room, are more in line with a compact than a midsize.
While you need more shoulder and hip room to occasionally put 3 across the back seat, it is the leg room that really matters. Prius L also has more front, rear legroom and headroom than my '12 Acura tsx. And against a Mercedes E-Class? 2013 Toyota Prius vs. 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 2013 Prius/2013 M-Benz E-400h Front legroom 42.5 "/41.3 " Rear legroom 36.0 "/35.8 " Front headroom 38.6 "/37.9 " Rear headroom 37.6 "/38.2 " Front hiproom 52.7 "/N/A Rear hiproom 51.2 "/N/A Front shoulder room 54.9 "/57.8 " Rear shoulder room 53.1 "/56.9 " Luggage volume 21.6 cu.ft./15.9 cu.ft. Compare Side-by-Side .
Prius doesnt have high roof hence rear headroom isnt that good, so thats not why interior volume is so good... it is because its wheelbase is considerably larger than Corolla's, its one size larger (same as Euro Avensis)... thats why rear legroom is so impressive.
Maybe i-eloop was too big step in technology for Mazda: Mazda Australia stops deliveries of new Mazda6 sedan | Latest Business & Australian Stock market News | thetelegraph.com.au There are also some problems with CX-5 diesel (same as in Mazda6), when doing many short trips, DPF regeneration is interrupted and diesel fuel can dilute into engine oil, they did provide a firmware update, and they are saying that Mazda 6 diesel is not affected, but we will see.
The big study that linked cancer to diesel exhaust from the WHO was with miners and their off road diesel equipment with no emission treatment systems. Gasoline engines under such conditions would be just as unhealthy if not out right deadly. The only reason gasoline exhaust is clean now is because of 30+ years of research and development. Even then, a new diesel is cleaner in some measurements to a new gasoline car.
I used to be a fan of Mazda....and in fact I still admire the brand but this car has two tragic flaws; 1. The big goofy "always glad to see you" guppy grin. - although this car's Cheshire cat grill is somewhat subdued, and the car looks really good on a 'puter screen! 2. Diesel. Booooo. Expensive.....and built to stay that way. No thanks. If diesel was 50 cents cheaper, and if they cost the same as a gas burner, and if they were as cheap to work on.....I might consider getting one...but then if my aunt had a set of ba....(*!*) er....if she had a mustache, then she'd be my uncle.
