It'd be ideal, but for 1 thing - the law looks upon a corporation as a "person". And 'persons' that own 10% or more fall under SEC short swing profit rules which severely curtail buys/sells w/in 6 months. So yeah, you wouldn't want a company to be able to defend itself against scumbag short'ers now - would you? .
