You said in simple words what I alluded to when I wrote about being careful to pick a good neighborhood.
Aye. I didn't want to sugar coat the truth. Besides, I should know about dumps. I live in Woodland right now. LOL
Now that a few of us have given you some things to be concerned about.... Can anyone help Angry Elf with some positive guidance? I think there are some nice ares in Yuba City but am not very familiar with the area. Angry Elf, where will you be working? What part of which town of you don't want to name the company? Driving across Yuba City/Marysville during commute time can be time consuming so that will have some impact on commute times. Wheatland, about 15 miles south is a small town that I don't think has many of the Yuba City/Marysville/Olivehurst problems. My barber lives in Wheatland and thinks it's a great little town. It's also 15 miles closer to major shopping areas in Roseville/Rocklin and 15 miles closer to Sacramento for bigger city things.
With the Hwy 65 bypass open now you could even live in Lincoln and commute to Yuba City if that is where your employer is. I'll get some street names for the nicer areas.
Wow thanks guys for all the input LOL ! F8L I love the fact that you're in the area , I just bought some new Michelin energy saver A/S Based on your recommendation , have 150 miles on them. Getting ready for that cross country drive sx650 You are also a highly respected member of the prius community . I look forward to meeting you both sometime . We are not actually moving there for a job . Some friends of ours have asked us to come help with a church outreach . My wife and I have worked with college and high school ministries for the last 15 years it felt right So we both quit our jobs and sold most of our stuff . Packing a couple duffel bags and a tent in the Prius and driving out .
Sweet! Let me know when you get over here. I'd love to meet up and learn more about what you are doing. While not really religious myself, I preserve natural habitat and agricultural lands in the area which enables me to do a lot with the community in Placer County including tons of Scouts. So I'm always interested in learning about community projects. Xs650 is just around the corner too!
If you already have friends in the community they should be able to help you find a good place to live. Welcome to Northern California. You will find the Yuba City area not at all like the California of TV, movies and talk shows.
Absolutely !!! My wife and I love to hike and camp And will do so every weekend that the weather and our schedules permit , So we have a great interest in preserving nature . Thank you for all of your work !!!! We love the fact that you work with scouts . Young people need all the help and support they can get these days .
Yes we have two friends that moved there last year and they are helping us a great deal But since they haven't lived there long I'm interested in hearing from others that have lived in the area . I especially appreciate your idea of driving through neighborhoods on Friday and Saturday nights , I never would've thought of that . And I definitely want to look into Wheatland . This is exactly this type of information I'm looking for when I originally posted . Thank you
I agree with checking out Wheatland. It was a tiny AG town but they have built a lot of new affordable houses there for the folks who commute to Sacramento. It's tiny but not bad.
